“Lose yourself in spaciousness and find your true self”
– The Radiance Sutras; Sutra 53//76

Welcome to SamSpaces.
Samspaces is a virtual support service and community offering solidarity and empowerment to patients as they near the end of  treatment, and during their recovery, as they adjust to life again.
About SAMSPACES
'The value of SafeSpace is having a dedicated time and opportunity to verbalise many of the thoughts, anxieties, fears and emotions that circle around my head incessantly. This is a special collection of people and although we each have our own story, the group as a whole gives me a sense of belonging and shared experience that is often hard to find amongst friends and relatives that (try as they might) don’t know what 'IT' is like. SafeSpace gives me an outlet, and more importantly the reassurance that I’m not alone. It’s also a lot of fun'.

In May 2018 I was thrilled to win an Inspire MPower Award. I couldn't attend the award ceremony as I was climbing Snowdon for charity, but it was a huge highlight for me, for the work I have been doing with Samspaces and the Safespace group and for raising the awareness of #lifeaftercancer.
Of course, I wrote a blog about it all!

‘Dear dear! How queer everything is today! And yesterday things went on just as usual. I wonder if I’ve been changed in the night? ‘ (Alice In Wonderland by Lewis Carroll)

I have a somewhat overly active imagination (why would anyone ever dangle their feet out of the bed at night?) and as a child, stories like this classic imbedded themselves in my mind and I would imagine being so small I could fit in a bottle and day dream about joining the chaos of the mad hatters tea party. The initial irony of feeling like a child again after a cancer diagnosis, no matter what your age, only echoes how important it was to me, to compare the whole thing to a simple bedtime story. You feel so vulnerable. The need to simplify, to make it basic, familiar, easier to understand becomes vital to your entire sense of self but I also began to draw many parallels between real life and this particular story.

I can’t live without GHD’s and I’m well known for my Monica’isms! I am a crazy organised, overly efficient ex PA who loves finding my zen with yoga and meditation. My favourite hobby is singing and I adore walking my gorgeous black labrador, as well as cooking healthy recipes and baking with my daughter! After working in the film industry for five years I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer suddenly at the age of twenty seven. READ MORE
